Update 11-21-11

Winter Skills and Drills is full. It should be fun and we look forward to the first sessions starting 11/30.

Spring Registration is ongoing, but we strongly encourage you to register as soon as possible. This allows up better time to prepare.  Please see the  web home page on how teams are formed by age group because there are always gaps with too many for one team and not enough for others.  Right now we are about 70% to where we were last year.

Grades 4th to 8th who will be playing in the MYLA league, once you sign up for HFG-FH, per MYLA league rules you may not sign up for another MYLA program.  What this means is that if you sign up for HFG-FH and want to make an "b" team and make the "c" team, you are not permitted to sign up for another local MYLA program and try to make their "b" or "a" team.  If you sign up for more than one MYLA program at the same time, you will be ineligible for the season.  This is a MYLA rule, not a HFG-FH rule.  This is not a new rule, just something that you should be aware of.  You can not "shop" from program to program like you might be able to in other sports or even the club level.   Please go to MYLA website for additional details for all of the MYLA rules that follow.

Parents in the MYLA there are different levels "a", "b" and "c" … your daughter will be playing against kids of grade, age and similar talent.  First time players are still encouraged and welcomed.

Potential Coaches / Assistant Coaches: in Jan / Feb, we will send an email to all people that have registered asking for volunteers for head and assistant coaches.  At this point,  no coaches have been picked or assigned at any age group.  All candidates at each age group will be reviewed by the board for final decisions.

Please call me with any questions at 443 306 3636 or email me timcolt45@gmail.com

Note: Lightning, Midget and Junior, we try whenever possible, to keep people of the same age group together.  For an example in Lightning (Midget & Junior follow similar patterns), we will form an all 4thth grade team, all 5th grade team and as needed other teams depending on registration #.  What this means is that if your daughter is in 4th grade and she is “good enough” to make the 5th grade them, she will be on the 4th grade team.  Again, we attempt whenever possible to keep kids together based on age then talent.  It is a combination of age and talent to make a team.   We want kids to be able to play together from year-to-year.  This is how other local programs do it as well! (We all talk together at board meetings)

**********************************************************************************

Skills and Drills – $50 extra – Lightning, Midget and Junior only - 11/29 to  1/25 – Wednesday nights - 1 hour training session – 6:00 to 7:00 or 7:00 to 8:00 – sessions led by HFG Coaches  and there will be special guest coaches from colleges and high schools tbd.  You will receive high level coaching. Space is limited.  Location is the Forest Hill Activities Center.   Skills and Drill are extra sessions that are NOT used to evaluate your daughter for the spring season.  These are optional not required to make a MYLA Travel Team.

********************************************************************************

Coaches and Assist Coaches – once you have registered if you are interested in becoming a coach, please let us know. We are always looking for a variety of coaches with and without lacrosse experience.
